Wordpress problems with visual editor and toolbar disappearing

by Heath on Aug.20, 2009, under Tech Support, Web Design

Add define( ‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false ); near the top of wp-config.php. That would make WordPress admin run slower, so can try removing it in a few days and testing again (this would eliminate any stale network cache)

Things to consider when running an e-commerce website

by Heath on Aug.06, 2009, under Web Design, Web Marketing

- Knowing the customer base as well as the potential customer market. If you are marketing to one core group already, the internet may allow you to reach a broader population without huge expenditures.

- Know what is selling in the area and offer options that will make your site more attractive to the average buyer. Do you allow for pre-ordering and then picking up the item at the store? Do have shipping- and if so, do you have shipping that is attractively priced and almost irresistible? Do you offer a discount for ordering online?

-Know your competition as well. If they are having a 30% of sale, yours should be 35% off. If they have free shipping for orders over $20, yours should be free for all orders. (For a limited time of course.) Whatever the competing retailers are doing, your website should at least match it, even if it cannot beat them.

-Finally, know how well your web design is working. Ask for feedback and listen to the responses. Everyone hates the color? Change it then. Slow loading and freeze up problems with the site? Consider what is creating the problem and if it is really necessary.

I’m a Google-Approved Qualified Professional

by Heath on Jul.22, 2009, under Web Design, Web Marketing

logo_qualified_ind_80
With Google AdWords™, you’ll be able to reach your customers at the precise
moment they’re looking for your products or services. When users search on Google,
they’re demonstrating which products they’re interested in. With AdWords ads, your
customers will see your ad next to relevant search results they’ve requested. In
addition, your ads could also appear on relevant search and content sites within the
Google Network. With Google’s precise targeting and your ability to control how much
you’re willing to pay per click, the end result is a higher return on investment (ROI) for
your advertising budget.

Updated Portfolio

by Derek on Jul.15, 2009, under Company, Web Design

Sure, the new HBuilt.net is great—light years ahead of its predecessor. But I was never quite happy with its portfolio section. And let’s face it, for a design firm, what could possibly be more critical? So I’ve taken the liberty of revamping it. Have a look at http://www.hbuilt.net/portfolio/web

What’s next? The design of this blog :-)
